Is Blue Quill Angler available on my dates?

Our guides keep their availability up to date, and many can handle more than one trip per day. The easiest way to get a trip on the calendar is to select your dates and request to book. You will not be charged until the guide accepts your request.

How much should I tip Blue Quill Angler?

The amount you should tip a fishing or hunting guide can vary depending on factors such as the length of the trip, the quality of service, and the overall experience. However, a general rule of thumb is to tip around 20% of the cost of the fishing trip.

What is Blue Quill Angler's cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 7 days before the trip. — A 7 day advanced notice for all cancellations is required for a full refund. Within 7 days you are responsible for 100% of the trip cost. Cancellation due to extreme weather conditions will be determined by the captain only when the safety of the client is at risk.

The Blue Quill Angler offers float trips on the Upper Colorado River! Our permit allows us to float from Pumphouse to State Bridge, which gives us the opportunity to get you on the section of river that is fishing best. If you’ve never floated through this section of the Colorado River, you are missing out on some incredible fly fishing–not to mention beautiful scenery!

Most of the fishing action during our float trips will consist of nymphing multiple fly rigs under an indicator or casting streamers on the bank, which is one of the most exciting ways to entice the larger browns in this section of river. Although we fish out of the boat during our float trips, we also get out and wade fish the most productive runs. The fishing is great year-round, but it’s especially good from late March through early November. Our float trips include a streamside lunch and cover all necessary equipment, including flies, leaders, waders.

Not included is a Colorado fishing license or Guide Gratuity.

The Blue Quill Angler Colorado fly fishing guide service operates out of our fly shop in Evergreen, Colorado – 25 minutes west of Denver. We are a professional guide service offering guided walk/wade and float fly fishing trips to a multitude of public and private water destinations in the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado since 1988. What sets us apart from other outfitters is the expertise of our guide staff, along with our extensive permits that allow us to guide rivers others can’t.

Our fly shop and on-line store are fully stocked with the best gear from the best brands in the industry. We welcome fly anglers of all skill levels, whether it's your first time out, or you are a seasoned veteran. Our passionate and helpful shop staff are standing by to assist you whenever you walk into our shop, or are simply calling in for help or advice. We are here to help in any way we can.

Guiding is much more than just catching fish. We put you on the best water, with low client-to-guide ratios and cover all aspects of this wonderful sport. Our hope is you will leave our guided fly fishing trips in Colorado with not only memories and pictures, but the knowledge to get out on your own and enjoy fly fishing!

Our guide staff is lead by industry veteran, author and co-owner Pat Dorsey, whose knowledge and passion for fly fishing sets the tone for our entire guide staff. Our focus on providing a quality experience for our customers is shared by all of our staff members, whether they are working in the shop, filling an online order or teaching a person to fly fish for the first time. Our goal is to provide you with the best day on the river we possibly can.
