Jurassic Lake is the original world-class fly fishing lodge located on Strobel Lake, one of the most remote and wild places of Southern Argentine Patagonia. Famous for its incredible trophy rainbow trout fishing in pristine waters, the lodge is strategically located on a protected bay within walking distance of the mouth of the Barrancoso River, Strobel Lake’s only significant tributary. This inlet is home to the most productive waters of the entire lake and is easily one of the very best trophy rainbow trout fisheries in the world.
At Jurassic Lake Lodge, all of our fishing is done while wading or standing on the bank. Typically, a single guide will spend the day with a group of two or three anglers, depending on which beat is being fished. During a week’s visit to the Lodge, anglers will have the opportunity to fish different section of the Barrancoso River and any number of bays on Strobel Lake, including the inlet where the Barrancoso enters the lake. During the high water season, visiting anglers also gain access to beautiful Moro Creek and its surrounding lagoons. This small creek fishes great with dry flies. All of this incredible water, which includes the most productive sections within the entire watershed, are located on our property. Our guests enjoy exclusive access to these beats, some of which are only a short walk from the Lodge. The beats a little further away are accessed by brief truck rides across our property. Throughout our season, and depending on the particular beat being fished, we use different sizes of single and double hand rods and a variety of flies. Detailed information on tackle is listed further down on this page, along with recommendations for clothing and other essential gear.
