Miles Zimmerman
Rain, sleet, hail, snow… Whatever the conditions, you will find Miles outdoors. He has been fishing for as long as he can remember, learning the finer points of bait fishing from his grandfather as soon as he was able to hold a fishing rod. Born and raised in California, he has spent most of his life in pursuit of anything that swims, with a heavy focus on trout fishing the Sierra Nevada. Never turning his nose to a fish species or a tactic to catch them, he can talk to you about the proper way to inflate a worm on a Carolina rig, jig for mackinaw, topline for kokanee or explain his nuanced nymphing tactics for picky Truckee River trout. His love for fishing shows every day spent in the shop, through his honest, positive conversations with every single customer that walks through those doors. Even if you’ve never thought about trying fly fishing before, one short conversation with Miles about the sport will likely have you considering it. He is certainly living the dream, and we think it shows.

Austin Zimmerman
Austin grew up on a steady diet of trout and power bait. As a kid, he would beg relatives and neighbors to take him fishing. His grandfather put a fishing rod in his hand for the first time at the age of four, and Austin quickly became a menace to the bluegill and bass of the foothills surrounding Grass Valley, and the trout of the Yuba river. Austin spent his childhood summers camping around Yosemite, Strawberry, and Graeagle. After breakfast, he'd hop on his bike and ride down to the river or lake where he'd remain until it was too dark to fish. After getting his drivers license, one of the first jobs he took was cleaning and refueling boats at the local reservoir. Before he turned ten, he helped his neighbor land a catfish that still reigns as the lake record on one of his home waters. When asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, “a fisherman” he’d reply. While it would sound ridiculous coming from a ten year old, it turns out that’s exactly what he’s become.
