Private trip guided by Drew

Mangrove Maniacs 10-19 years of experience

About

5-6 hour fly or spin fishing trip in the 10,000 Islands of SW FL which are made up of mangrove shorelines, oyster reefs, mud and sand flats, beaches, creeks and rivers. I specialize in skinny water backcountry and gulf side FLY fishing but love to SPIN fish as well. We can even combo the two if needed. We mainly target snook, redfish and tarpon but it’s not uncommon to catch a variety of other species like Jacks, tripletail, pompano, snapper, black drum, sharks etc. Season, conditions and tide typically dictate what are main target species will be but if you’re looking for something specific, we can focus all our efforts there. Marco Island, Florida10-19 years of experience

My name Drew and I’m 39 yrs old. I moved to the Marco area from Iowa when I was 10. On the weekends and after school I worked as a mate on offshore boats till I was about 15 and bought my first skiff. Fished like a man possessed! Never really even thought about guiding full time until I had worked as a marine tech for about 7 years. As much as I loved that and all the boat and engine knowledge I gained, I felt like I wasn’t spending enough time on the water. So one day I just decided it was time to start guiding. 2008 was a rough year. Trying to get my name out there, making ends meet was harder than I thought, but I was determined to grow organically and provide the best experience possible for my small but growing client list. I went down several avenues from Eco tours to kayak fishing to camping trips in the 10k Islands. Fly fishing in skinny water was always the core of my guiding though. So several skiffs later and a lot of learning I’m back to strictly fishing. I run an 18 Cayo and a 14 Saltmarsh skiff. I’m a tarpon junky and I’ve transformed most of my guys to be the same. From the beach to the backcountry, from February till November if they’re around were gonna hunt them down. Tarpon are my mainstay but we still love our super skinny snook and redfish too. I look for them as shallow as we can get and the Saltmarsh can actually get skinnier than the fish sometimes. I believe in trying to create the coolest moments and memories for my clients. Anybody can take you to go catch a fish. A very select few will go above and beyond to find the really cool stuff that hardly anybody gets to see. I consider myself to be very patient with new clients and my goal is to grow their abilities as anglers so they can get the most out of everyday we share. I can go on and on but you gotta save something for the trip right?
