An Introduction to Mexico’s Punta Allen Fishing Club

Nestled in the lively fishing village of Punta Allen lies Punta Allen Fishing Club, a state-of-the-art, Mayan-inspired fishing compound with access to some of the best saltwater fly fishing on offer in Mexico. Located just steps from the white sand shore of beautiful Ascension Bay – Punta Allen Fishing Club is a haven for bonefish, tarpon, snook, and permit. Capt. Tyler Bowman, a Charleston, South Carolina native and professional fly fishing guide, will host you on your week-long expedition chasing the renowned flats-dwelling species of the region. Tyler has spent his whole life exploring new waters and honing his craft in the Lowcountry marsh, and he’s thrilled to return to one of his favorite flats fishing haunts with a select group of anglers.

Fly fishing Punta Allen: where you’ll fish and what to expect

During your stay at Punta Allen Fishing Club, you’ll have the chance to explore the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve — a place’s thats Mayan name translates to "gateway to paradise." This region has been a Mexican national park since 1986, and its flats fishing opportunities are the stuff of dreams. In addition to the beautiful Ascension Bay, the reserve encompasses inshore reefs, lagoons, mangrove islands, and thousands of acres of white sand flats.

Fishing in Punta Allen offers unparalleled access to many of the most exciting saltwater game fish to target on the fly. You’ll spend your days sight-fishing the crystal clear flats of Sian Ka’an Biosphere for massive tarpon, spirited bonefish, and a strong population of permit. Each of these saltwater game fish is impressive in its own right, but the chance at the fabled Grand Slam – catching all three in one day – makes Punta Allen a true saltwater fly fishing paradise. Punta Allen has one of the highest potentials for a successful “slam” in the entire Caribbean.
