Winter Trout in the Catskills

Adventures A-Weight Guide Service LLC 10-19 years of experience

About

Winter can offer some of the most peaceful and rewarding days on the water. When conditions line up—temperatures climbing into the high 30s or low 40s with a touch of sun—trout feed confidently and consistently. Finding the fish isn’t a question; that’s my job. I guide anglers of all experience levels, from first-time fly fishers to seasoned veterans, and I take pride in running family-friendly trips where kids can experience the thrill of their first trophy trout. With deep knowledge of lightly pressured local waters, I’ll put you in the right place at the right time for a truly memorable winter fly fishing adventure.

Swan Lake, New York10-19 years of experience

I was raised in the heart of the Catskills, where watching my older brothers chase trophy brown trout in local creeks and New York City reservoirs lit a fire in me that never went out. That curiosity grew into a lifelong pursuit—earning a biology degree in Oswego, immersing myself in the Great Lakes fishery, and later interning with both the NYC Department of Environmental Protection and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. From the reservoirs of the Catskills to the Hudson River’s striped bass runs, every step sharpened my understanding of fish behavior, ecosystems, and the skills it takes to consistently succeed on the water. I didn’t start out perfect—I struggled, learned, adapted, and eventually mastered techniques like reservoir trolling, fly fishing and tying, and night fishing for walleye. What truly changed everything was sharing those hard-earned skills with others and watching them land fish they once thought were out of reach. Fishing has a way of making the world disappear, even if just for a moment, and nothing excites me more than guiding people through some of the most beautiful waters in New York and helping them experience that feeling for themselves. I’m proud to be launching my own guide service, built on experience, passion, and a deep respect for these incredible fisheries—and I’d be honored to share a day on the water with you.
