Alaska Fin Chasers • 10-19 years of experience
On these trips, we fish out of a 20' boat, and will be chasing various runs of salmon and trout, depending on seasonality.
**Our boats fit 4 anglers, and if your group is less than 4 anglers, you will likely be fishing with another party. If you're interested in a private trip, please see our other listing!
A bit about our seasons and the fish we chase:
King Salmon (Chinook)
Kings run in the Kasilof and Kenai Rivers from the end of May through July. When you book a king trip you better show up ready to fight because these fish are about as big and strong as they come. The world record sport fishing king salmon was caught on the Kenai River in 1985 weighing in at 97lb 4oz! Please note we release all wild kings back into the river to spawn and hopefully pass on their monster genetics to the next generation.
Sockeye Salmon (Reds)
If you’re hoping to leave Alaska with boxes full of salmon fillets then a sockeye trip may be for you! From June through August over a million sockeye salmon come into the river and the action can be non-stop! These fish are as fun to catch as they are to eat! They’ll run and jump and fight until you give them a good bonking. Whether you’re looking for a fun day on the water or your next meal, you won’t want to miss sockeye season in AK!
Silver Salmon (Coho)
Silver salmon typically run from the end of July through October. We love targeting silvers because they are so aggressive! They’ll hit your plug and take off on lengthy runs. Most people would agree that pound for pound silvers are the hardest fighting species of salmon. An average silver weighs 10-12lb but they can be upwards of 15-20lb at times! They’re great fish for combo trout/silver trips and they’re tasty too!
Rainbow Trout
The Kenai River is world-famous for a number of reasons but one of our favorites is its thriving population of rainbow trout! We fish for rainbows from the middle of June through October. These fish spend their summers feasting on salmon eggs and flesh. By fall they are usually thick and feisty! The Kenai not only yields high numbers of rainbows, 20-30+ inchers are caught on a regular basis! Your trophy rainbow trout is waiting for you on the Kenai!
Dollys, Pinks, and More!
Dolly Varden, Pink Salmon (on even-numbered years), and Steelhead Trout are some of the least popular - but still very exciting species we catch on the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers. If you’re not sure which trip or species is for you, call or message us today and we’ll be happy to help plan your trip!
Exact meeting location will be discussed after booking.
