About
Captain Justin Nguyen, a renowned fly fisherman, possesses an innate ability to catch fish in any situation. Born in Vietnam, he grew up fishing on the Great Mekong River system. This river system is made up 9 rivers called the Cuu Long or River of 9 dragons. This is a rich and vibrant aquatic environment. It is both big and challenging. To master this river takes focus and dedication. Both of which Justin possesses. He taught himself to fish with a simple bamboo rod, soaking up every bit of knowledge along the way. Justin is very much a self starter. Hard work and a positive attitude are traits he carries with him to this day.
Having moved to Chicago from Vietnam, with his family, Justin fell in love with soccer and was consumed with the sport. He came very close to becoming a pro. He was destined to go far and play on the US national team, wanting to become the first Vietnamese player to play in the World Cup, but injury sidelined this goal. His best friend and teammate went on to play 4 World Cup for the US. Never one to allow a setback to stop him, Justin Nguyen found himself being drawn back to the water. He set his sights on becoming an accomplished fly fisherman and became the first Vietnamese fly fishing guide in the world, and the first international ambassador for Vietnam fly fishing.
All the while that Justin was fine tuning his fishing, he was also working on his art. Starting out as teen doing portraits, Justin soon found himself doing tattoos and marine art. No matter what he does, there seems to be a water theme involved. I guess he is just a waterman at heart.
In 2017, Justin moved his family to the Fort Lauderdale area and has since built a reputation as one of the leading exotics and peacock bass guides in South Florida. From Fort Lauderdale to Miami, and whether on foot or aboard the “Lady Jade”, a day with Justin is always an adventure. …And his shore lunches are beyond compare!

VerifiedFishing with Justin was fantastic, he is very energetic and engaged. He worked with my girlfriend who has little experience, at the end of the the day she was already looking forward to the next trip! The lunch he prepared for us was far beyond anything I have had on a guided trip and will not be forgotten. I highly recommend Justin and will be calling on him again.

Incredible Experience! Before I even describe the trip, let me start by highlighting that Justin reached out a few weeks before to get a sense of us and our expectations, along with tips on what to bring and expect. A few days before the trip, he provided us with weather updates and possible alternatives just in case the weather did not cooperate, which was huge given we were traveling from out of town. When we arrived, all the equipment was provided, and we were given all the instructions we needed. We even got a little shooting practice to get our confidence up. The rest of the day was a blast; he knew all the best places to look, and we bagged 12 iguanas. Lastly, my son is 12 and familiar with a rifle but has yet to become an expert... Justin was great with helping and talking him through shooting off a boat and this environment; sometimes, you don't have the best patience, so his instruction was priceless. It was a great guide and overall experience, and I highly recommend it. We will be booking him for more next time we are back down.

I have been on quite a few trips with captain Justin. Trips that include cast and blast for peacock and iguanas to snake heads. Captain Justin is also a amazing fly fishing teacher as well. He even taught me how to fly fish rather quickly with his hands on approach. His teachings are so productive I had my first fish on the fly in no time. Highly recommend also always spring for the shore lunch his cooking is even more impressive then his fishing lol. Top captain and chef.
