About

Montana's Missouri River is best described as a massive spring creek with dry fly-fishing opportunities that anglers come to expect from a river rich in aquatic insect life. Missouri River Tailwater insect hatches include midges, blue winged olives, caddis, P.M.D.'s tricos, brown drakes and golden stone flies. As summer progresses, hopper and other terrestrial fishing on the Missouri River can be excellent. Its dry fly-fishing opportunities will challenge your fly-fishing abilities, this all comes together when you are hooked up and fighting a large Missouri River trout while using light fly-fishing tackle including 5X tippets and long Missouri River style leaders.

The characteristics during non-hatch periods on the Missouri River Tailwater successful fly-fishers can experience excellent nymph fishing and for those that want to target above average fish, streamer fishing is the way to go.

The Missouri River fly-fishing season is year-round. Primetime on Montana's Missouri River is May through and into October with June, July, August and September offering our fly-fishing clients the most consistent Montana fly-fishing experience due to stable weather patterns and flows.

Orvis Endorsed Channel & Brown Outfitting Company L.L.C (MT Outfitter #7886) is a Cascade Montana-based outfitting service owned and operated by Lindsey Channel and Dave Brown.

Hatched during the Covid-19 pandemic when an opportunity came knocking in the form of buying out an existing outfitter's big game and upland bird hunting N.C.H.U. days. We both jumped at the opportunity, at the same time we had a good hard look at the Missouri River fly-fishing scene and started conducting trips with the best interests of clients and guides in mind.We do this by listening to our clients and asking them what they want to accomplish. Both Lindsey and Dave have their hands on the pulse of the river by being out there on a a daily basis guiding and fishing the Missouri River, which as a guide you need to do if you want to know what is going on day to day in order to guide on the Missouri River.

With a combined 50 years of outfitting and guiding experience is proof that we have been around for a while and know what it takes to successfully run an outfitting company focused on providing excellent customer service. During the fly-fishing season, you will find both Dave and Lindsey at the oars doing what they do best.
