On this trip with Captain Ray, you'll target Redfish, Snook, and Speckled Trout on light tackle! This is classic Tampa Bay fishing, where you can explore inshore mangrove channels and nearshore waters with ease. The type of fish you'll be targeting will be determined by the time of year. Most trips are geared towards catching a trophy Snook or Redfish. When summer comes around, the focus changes to targeting trophy Tarpon along the beaches. Captain Ray also targets other species like including Black Drum, Mackerel, Flounder, Tripletail, Permit, Pompano, Snapper, Grouper and Cobia! This trip is extremely flexible and can be catered to your preferences! Captain Ray will launch anywhere from Clearwater to Sarasota if the fish are there. Make sure to stay in contact with him in the days leading up to the trip to discuss what meet up location works best for you.

During Tarpon season, we can catch 75–150 lb Tarpon. It's even possible to catch one weighing up to 200 lb! Catching a Tarpon that size offers a much different experience due to their exhilarating fights lasting up to 2 hours. Because predators migrate with Tarpons, hooking a Hammerhead or Bull Shark is also very common. If you like a challenge, Tarpon charters are the ones for you. These trips are available starting in April-July.

Nearshore fishing is weather dependent, but can be the most diverse fishing experience you can have in Tampa bay. Certain times a year the same spot can produce hogfish and grouper and in a couple months have permit and kingfish all around. These charters are more for non stop action depending on the time a year. This is the trip I recommend if you are looking to bring home some fish to eat as well.
