My name is Matt Meier, I previously worked as a fisheries biologist for the state and private sector but am now a full time fishing and hunting guide. Feel free to reach out, I'm here to make your next outdoor adventure an easy and memorable one!
Whether you're a seasoned angler or a first time fisherman, RBO is here to make your next Northwoods adventure a memorable one. Join us for an unforgettable day of fishing some of the incredible trout waters Wisconsin has to offer. We target brown trout, brook trout, and smallmouth on coldwater streams in the area fly fishing and also using coventional fishing gear. The river we fish will depend on conditions such as weather, water temps, time of year, and flows. Wade trips typically start in the morning and include 4 or 8 hrs of fishing and working the banks in search for fiesty browns and brookies. Smallmouth are often also caught for a mixed bag. We provide all the tackle for a day on the water and waders in certains sizes. If you have your own waders we ask that you please bring them. The day of the trip we will meet at the Wagon Wheel unless we agree on a different location. We wade a number of different streams some can be up to an hour from the meeting location. If I plan on fishing a river that is farther away we can discuss a better meeting spot depending on where your coming from. I will have a cooler loaded down with ice, waters, and some snacks but please bring a lunch and any other drinks or food you may want. A valid WI fishing license is required on the day of your trip. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you on the water!

We target brown trout, brook trout, and smallmouth on coldwater streams in the area fly fishing and also using coventional fishing gear. The river we fish will depend on conditions such as weather, water temps, time of year, and flows. We provide all the tackle including rods and reels for a day on the water. As we float downstream I will navigate the boat as you fish current breaks and different structure throughout the river in search for that lunker. Typically our trips start in the morning and we float 5-10 miles of river which is a 7-10 hr trip. Trip times can vary due to weather, flows, lunch and fishing stops. Depending on the day of the week we see very few anglers compared to fishing lakes, sometimes all we see is wildlife. While taking in the beautiful landscape you can expect to see deer, bald eagles, ducks, geese, kingfishers and sometimes beavers, bears, and otters. The day of the trip we will meet at the Wagon Wheel unless we agree on a different location. You will then follow me to the launch/put in where I'll get the boat in the water. After we will shuttle my truck to the takeout that we will be floating to. Shuttling can take 20-40 mins round trip depending on length of float. We float a number of different rivers therefore we use different launches so drives to the launch can be up to an hour from the meeting location. If I plan on fishing a river that is farther away we can discuss a better meeting spot depending on where your coming from.
