Location: North Padre Island/Port Aransas. Out-of-state anglers will typically fly into Corpus Christi or San Antonio, and will rent a car.
Nearby lodging: I recommend staying in Port Aransas or North Padre Island. There are lots of hotels/motels/Airbnb’s in these areas.
Driving distance to the boat ramp will range from 5 to 30 minutes. Boat rides will range from 15 minutes to one hour one-way, depending on conditions and angler preference. We can fish close by, or we can run far.
Exact meeting location will be discussed after booking.

Hey guys, my name is John Coffman. My friends and family back home call me John Kelly. I’m originally from Dallas, and I picked up a fly rod for the first time in 2011 at a summer camp near Durango, Colorado at age 15. My life hasn't been the same since. I’m now a decade into my guiding career, and I’ve been fortunate enough to guide in several bucket list fisheries across the globe: Southwest and South-Central Alaska, Chilean Patagonia, the Texas Gulf Coast, and Colorado.
At heart, I’m just another fly fishing fanatic who's been lucky enough to turn my obsession into a career thanks to a few life-changing opportunities. Since 2022, my wife Macy and I have been Owner/Operators at The Ridge, a RL Winston Preferred Lodge in the heart of Bristol Bay, Alaska. Hosting just six guests per week, The Ridge delivers a remote, floatplane-accessed experience on some of the best trout and salmon water in North America.
When I’m not guiding full-time during the 4-month Alaska season, you can find me back in my home state, poling my skiff through the shallow flats of the South Texas Coast, guiding old friends and new into redfish from October through May.
