The Pelican at Chandeleur Island

The Pelican is a floating lodge that has been operating in Schooner Harbor since 1985 and our hosts have decades of experience fishing the Chandeleurs.

Schooner Harbor, a protected area surrounded by productive flats with easy skiff access to North Chandeleur Island for a quick trip to the surf. Schooner Harbor is roughly halfway between the north and south ends of North Chandeleur Island, offering easy access to miles of protected grass flats. The rooftop observation deck is the best place to enjoy an incredible sunset.

The Chandeleur Islands are famous for large schools of redfish and speckled trout. Our experienced crew will be available to help guide and assist with locating the perfect spot to catch your limit.

The lodge is comprised of three wood-frame floating structures moored together. The center barge houses a bunkhouse with four sets of bunk beds for eight guests, along with an enclosed head and shower. One outboard barge contains the galley where meals are prepared and served, plus a separate generator room. The other outboard barge houses the crew quarters along with a screened-in lounge area that offers a separate dining area. All three barges have 360° access with plenty of shade for relaxing with a cold drink and appetizer.
