About
The marshes of south Louisiana give opportunity to sight cast for redfish, black drum, and sheepshead. Spend your day stalking redfish in the shallow water we call home in the 17’ Strike by Beavertail Skiffs. Many people come fish the marshes of South Louisiana in the fall and winter for big redfish, but redfish is our specialty year round. Summer is a great time to chase redfish, but one of my favorite summer time species is jack crevalle. Not only are jacks a great target in the summer, sharks are as well. Stay in the Big Easy for some amazing food and entertainment and get out on the water for a day or three of chasing these awesome fish with light spin tackle.

Anglers are responsible for purchasing a valid Louisiana Fishing License. Capt. Dave will reach out prior to your trip to finalize details such as meeting location and time.

Fly fishing has been a part of my life since I was young. Bass and bluegill on poppers armed with my Eagle Claw rod and Martin auto reel is how it began. I chased them in ponds, lakes, and a few places I wasn’t supposed to be in MS. Later, I fly fished for trout in the Ozark Mountains, Smoky Mountains, and streams out in New Mexico while working as a college pastor. Once I experienced redfish on fly in the marshes of South Louisiana while living in New Orleans, I knew it would play a significant role in my life from that point. Making a transition from a youth pastor, to a fly fishing guide in Louisiana has been a dream come true.
Guiding the salt marshes of South Louisiana sight casting for redfish, blackdrum, sheepshead, jack crevalle, sharks, and other species is our passion! We work hard to to put you on fish and try our best to give you as many shots at fish as possible. Patience is key to our work and we want to serve you as you pursue what you love! The Southern Fly is a place for beginners to learn and for seasoned anglers to continue doing what they love.
