About

The Secure River
The Sécure River is born at the confluence of the Nutusama and Cascarillas streams. Along its first sections, the river flows from north to south between the Mosetenes and the Eva Eva Mountains. It’s one of the tributaries of the Mamoré River, which runs to the Madeira River, one of the main tributaries of the Amazon itself. Here the Sécure is extremely beautiful with crystal clear waters, wedged between mountains and pristine jungle. This fishery provides anglers an extremely close and unique contact with the jungle. Our transportation is via handmade Chiman wood dugout canoes (cuambas), powered by push poles or engines, but the fishing is 100% wet wading, with many chances for sight casting.
On the higher Sécure section there are dorado topping 30 pounds, many of them residents. There are also many pacú, moturo, surubi, and yatorana, all of which are excellent species for practicing different fishing techniques. Upstream from the lodge, there are two small tributaries (the Ashahana and the Maniquicito creeks) which are home to truly large big dorado in tiny, crystal clear waters.

The Middle Section
The middle section of the Sécure runs downstream from the lodge to the Ushwea Village. This section of the river is shallow and open, with sand flats and log structures, similar to the rivers further down near the plains region. Its clear waters gradually becomes sandy due to tributaries that sweep sediments from the high plateau. The logs, sunken trees, and subsurface structure offer the perfect ambush points for a large number of dorado.

Guided by Untamed Angling

Brazil20-29 years of experience

Untamed Angling was founded in 2001 by Marcelo Pérez.

The first company’s project was La Zona, the famous giant dorado tail water fishery in Argentina. An unpublished project was born in La Zona, which would perfect itself into future destinations of Untamed.

It was a completely new model in the market, which combined catch & release fly fishing in exclusive areas, with a significant social benefit to local populations and the preservation of natural environment.

This model project allowed Untamed to explore the best areas for sport fishing and develop there international destinations even if they were natural reserves, national parks, or Indian territories.

As these areas were generally found in remote locations with very hard access, Untamed also developed a singular capacity to design logistics of high complexity, and provide at the same time a first class guest’s service.

With the same project model, Untamed developed venues of great repercussion in the international market, such as Far End Rivers (Argentina), Desroches Island Fly Fishing Adventures (Seychelles), Tsimane (Bolivia), Kooi Noom (Argentina), Marié (Brazil), and more recently Kendjam and Pirarucú (Brazil).
