Private Upland Bird Hunt

Wesley Hodges 20-29 years of experience

About

The Specifics:
2 full days of upland hunting with lunch included. Equipment provided upon request. Based on 2 hunters.

What to Expect:
The mountains and foothills of Virginia and West Virginia offer some of the most exciting and challenging upland bird hunting opportunities in the nation. Covering rugged and wild terrain, we target several different species including Ruffed Grouse, American Woodcock, Quail, and more. These hunts are not for the faint of heart—requiring sturdy legs and a tough set of lungs—as we traverse through thick forests and ridgelines. We set a hunting pace and plan that works for you and ensures the best possible opportunity for a flush.

We have three, professionally-trained dogs on our team with years of experience hunting these hills. During your tenure with us, you'll learn how to spot upland bird signs, cover, and god-willing, get to shoot a bird. Click the link below to contact me and plan your Virginia upland bird hunt.

Guided by Wesley Hodges

I'm Wesley Hodges. I was born to fly fish and bird hunt. Yes, my life may have taken some random turns, but my focus always remained true: I am passionate about sharing my sport with clients looking for adventure. There is a moment of shared joy and success when a client lands their first trophy fish or gets their first upland bird. That moment consumes me.

The first time I ever had a fly fishing rod in my hand was in Colorado at a Boy Scout Camp, and that moment has stuck with me. Ever since that time I've been in love with the outdoors to the extent that it consumes me. My life has taken some unexpected turns, serving in the military, going to university, and eventually winding up getting involved with Project Healing Waters. I started guiding fly fishing for Project Healing Waters and that started my guiding career.

I love guiding and I love teaching clients something new and something better that maybe they've never done before to land that trophy fish. Also, I love guiding because people get so consumed by everyday life and just basic living that I love giving them the chance to get back outside and get in touch with what they really are passionate about.

It's about trophy fish and harvesting nice birds, but it's also about living life to the fullest.
