Austin Young was born in New Mexico, raised in Arizona, and spent some time in Colorado, Georgia, and South Carolina. While in the Southwest, Austin spent a lot of his free time hunting, fishing, and camping. The positive impression that the outdoors made on him growing up would continue to throughout his life, and the lessons he learned would come in handy during his time spent in the U.S. Army.
While enlisted, Austin was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia. There he was a medic for an infantry platoon that spent a lot of the time training in the swampy woods of Savannah. During his 4 years stationed there, Austin’s Unit would deploy to Afghanistan. Upon returning to the states and during his last year in the military, he married his fiancé Krista Young.
Austin, Krista and their two kids lived in Colorado after leaving the military. It is there where Austin found fly fishing. The passion was forged along the steep canyon walls that line the Cache La Poudre River in Fort Collins, CO. He knew he had to find a way to make a living doing what he loved.
Now living in the beautiful Lowcountry of South Carolina, Austin and his family call Charleston home. He continues to pursue his passion for the outdoors daily and enjoys sharing the experience with his outdoor videography business.

Absolute masterclass by a master captain. Intense wind and chalky water worked against us all day, but Captain Young was still able to find fish and work them beautifully. I had an amazing day on the water and learned a ton!

Austin is an awesome guide and a really great dude. Couldn’t recommend someone more if you’re looking to get on some fish with someone who genuinely cares about your experience.

VerifiedAustin was a great guide and was very knowledgeable of the area. The weather change didn’t help our fish catching much but we didn’t manage to land a couple nice fish. Austin was very good with my 9yo son for his first time fishing as well. Overall, we had a great time! I would definitely take another trip with Austin when given the opportunity.

AWESOME TIME with Austin! Met him at the boat launch early, so we hit the water looking for Big Reds! He found em right away, but my fly presentations weren’t what they were looking for. We switched up to spinning tackle and finally put one in the boat. My PB, but still room for improvement!! It was a little nippy on the water and since I forgot my jacket, Austin went above and beyond and quickly stopped back by his truck and grabbed a wind breaker for me. Now THAT is service! Most guides would’ve said, “too bad”, and I’d froze my butt off, but Austin is a Veteran and just shows there are good guys in the world still!! He put me on the fish and we had a blast! Saw dolphins and Ospreys and Blue Herons doing their thing in the wild! Do yourself a favor and call him when you’re ready for a good trip on the waters near Charleston, SC!!! Thanks again Austin, much respect young man!!
