Austin Young was born in New Mexico, raised in Arizona, and spent some time in Colorado, Georgia, and South Carolina. While in the Southwest, Austin spent a lot of his free time hunting, fishing, and camping. The positive impression that the outdoors made on him growing up would continue to throughout his life, and the lessons he learned would come in handy during his time spent in the U.S. Army.
While enlisted, Austin was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia. There he was a medic for an infantry platoon that spent a lot of the time training in the swampy woods of Savannah. During his 4 years stationed there, Austin’s Unit would deploy to Afghanistan. Upon returning to the states and during his last year in the military, he married his fiancé Krista Young.
Austin, Krista and their two kids lived in Colorado after leaving the military. It is there where Austin found fly fishing. The passion was forged along the steep canyon walls that line the Cache La Poudre River in Fort Collins, CO. He knew he had to find a way to make a living doing what he loved.
Now living in the beautiful Lowcountry of South Carolina, Austin and his family call Charleston home. He continues to pursue his passion for the outdoors daily and enjoys sharing the experience with his outdoor videography business.

Fished several different guides off the SC coast, but AceOutdoors is my favorite by far. Looking forward to fishing a tournament with him as the Captian in the fall. Looking forward to our next trip....becoming a bi annual tradition.

Have booked with Austin several times, he always creates a positive atmosphere. We have caught huge reds on multiple trips. Would (and have) recommend to anyone interested in a true low country marsh experience.

VerifiedFirst time giving salt water fly fishing a try. Austin was an excellent teacher; patient, knowledgeable, enthusiastic. He put me on fish all day, and I ended up landing a big one. Will definitely book again.

It was a great experience fishing with Austin. He is easy going, knowledgeable, and knows where the fish are. He's good at giving instruction, and knows when to step back. You can tell he loves what he does and it comes through in his effort to put you on fish. I have no hesitation recommending him to any level of angler who wants to chase Redfish in Charleston.

Austin was a great guide for a first timer like myself. This was a my first guided fly trip and being a novice at fly fishing he helped me out a ton. The weather was absolutely insane. 40 degrees with a 20mph wind and none stop rain. After missing a couple big ones I was finally able to catch my very first red fish and it was so worth it. I definitely plan on taking another trip with Austin and I’m hoping for a little nicer weather this time. All around nice guy, great story, and extremely knowledgeable about the waters. Highly recommend for any lever of fisherman. He’ll put you on them for sure.
