Private trip guided by Peter

Lowcountry Premier Fly Fishing 6-9 years of experience

About

Our trips in Charleston are always planned out with the tides. We have quite a big tidal swing each day and it will usually dictate how we will fish for redfish and other species. Whether that be up in the spartina grass, or down around the oyster beds and mud flats. Expect to meet Peter at a local boat ramp or pickup location around Charleston and run anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes to your fishing grounds. Capt Peter obviously prefers guiding experienced fly fishing anglers, but is also very welcoming to beginners, freshwater anglers, and everyone in between. Beginners and freshwater anglers can expect full instruction on casting in the wind, presenting your fly, stripping techniques, and strip set guidance. You will learn a great deal about the water, tides, and fish behavior during your time with Peter. If any anglers prefer to sight fish with a spinning rod and artificial baits just let Peter know beforehand and he will have that gear for you as well. Details on the location and meeting times will be provided upon trip confirmation as well as the day before the trip.

Half day:
A half day of fly fishing in the lowcountry is a 4 hour trip. Half days are great for the hot summer months as well as the colder mid winter trips. For half day trips, clients are expected to bring their own food or snacks. Water will be provided.

3/4 day:
A 3/4 day trip runs 6 hours. This gives the anglers 2 more hours on the water and basically a full tide cycle. So you will either experience a full incoming or outgoing tide. You will get to see firsthand how much the tide comes up and down and how the fish react, feed, and live in these environments. For 3/4 day trips, Capt Peter can help coordinate and bring lunch for the clients. He will reach out the day before and take your desired order. Water will be provided.

Full day:
A full day trip runs 8 hours or more. This trip is for anyone who wants to spend a full day on the water. Great for August through December when the fall bite is on fire. For full day trips, Capt Peter can help coordinate and bring lunch for the clients. He will reach out the day before and take your desired order. Water will be provided.

Your trip will typically start at 7am but this is subject to change depending on weather and tides.

Guided by Lowcountry Premier Fly Fishing

Charleston, SC, USA6-9 years of experience

Capt. Peter L-J, or "L-J" as people know him, started fly fishing with his father at the age of 8 and never looked back. Hailing from the Connecticut and New England area, each summer was spent chasing striped bass, bonito, bluefish, and false albacore. During his younger years he also spent a great deal of time on his grandfather's farm in the lowcountry of South Carolina and that is where his love for the area grew. After attending the College of Charleston, Capt Peter explored a couple different career paths before following his heart to his true passion of fly fishing.

Captain Pete is a purist in lowcountry living. From wildlife photography to bull red fishing and more, Peter lives and breaths Charleston’s iconic humidity. He has cemented himself as a premier fly fishing expert who developed his reputation in the marsh and amongst his peers. As one of the resident Orvis Endorsed Guides, his professional attitude and demeanor lend to unforgettable days on the water. In 2021, at the age of 30 and entering his first tournament ever, Capt. Pete guided his good friend and angler to a 1st Place finish out of 75 teams at the annual 'Charleston Fly'. Peter is consistently exploring, fine-tuning, and most importantly putting his clients on their dream fish. Get ready for a shot of education, life, and premier sight fishing when aboard his 2019 Maverick hpx-s. Regardless of season Peter is always itching to be on the water. Charleston offers a diverse year round fishery with a multitude of species to target throughout the year. You are guaranteed to have a good time.
