Journey to the tranquil Patagonian paradise of Le Fario Lodge, nestled in the heart of breathtaking Los Alerces National Park. Your trip begins with a scenic two-hour flight from the bustling capital city of Buenos Aires to the town of Esquel, situated between the snow-capped Andes to the west and the steppes to the east. Upon arrival, a lodge representative will greet and transport you to Le Fario Lodge, your home away from home for the week. On this trip, you’ll also be accompanied by Ben Sweat — retired pro soccer player for the MLS’ New England Revolution, Columbus Crew, NYCFC, Inter Miami CF, Austin FC, and Sporting Kansas City. Ben has also played for the U.S. Men’s National Team on the global stage. An avid angler, Ben has always balanced his intense soccer career with a passion for fishing and exploring waters far and wide. He is excited to travel to Argentina and catch trophy trout (and perhaps a local fútbol match) with a tight-knit crew of fellow anglers on this trip!

The drive to Le Fario winds through truly breathtaking scenery, and you will feel a sense of mounting anticipation for the experience ahead. As you make your approach to the lodge, you will enter the park boundaries of Los Alerces — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Park sits near the Chilean border, where successive glaciations have sculpted a landscape featuring moraines, glacial cirques, and clear-water lakes, all framed by dense temperate forests and alpine meadows. This region, home to the ancient and endangered Alerce tree, is crucial for preserving some of the last pristine Patagonian Forests and serves as a habitat for numerous endemic and threatened species.

Upon your arrival at Le Fario, situated on the banks of Laguna Larga, you're welcomed with open arms by the lodge owners, Laura & Gonzalo Martinez. You will quickly feel that you are at home with these two and their world-class lodge and guide staff. Laura and Gonzalo trained in French culinary school, and a welcome appetizer composed of local ingredients set the tone for the unforgettable dining (and fishing) in the days to come. As the sun sets over the mountainous lakeshore and you settle into your accommodations, lodge staff prepare an exquisite dinner and formally welcome your group to Patagonia.

When the time comes to turn in for the night, you’ll make your way back to your living quarters. Each of the four Le Fario rooms features a king-sized bed and a spacious private bathroom with views of the lake and Andes mountains. The lodge offers a living room with a central wood fireplace, panoramic windows, an outdoor hot tub, a wooden wader room with a sauna, and a well-stocked wine cave with a variety of choice Argentine wines from the surrounding vineyards.

As dawn breaks on your first full day in Patagonia, you’ll begin a 4-day angling expedition on some of the best trout fishing waters in the Southern Hemisphere. From Day 2 to Day 6, you explore six distinct waters around Los Alerces National Park, Trevelin, and Esquel areas. The Rivadavia, Arrayanes, Futaleufu, Lago Verde, Laguna Larga, Krugger, and Frey promise exceptional fishing amidst Patagonia's breathtaking scenery. Each day is a new chapter in your Patagonian adventure, with expert guides leading you through crystal-clear streams, stillwater, and rivers in search of trophy brown, brook, and rainbow trout. The array of fly fishing options ensures that every angler — whether a seasoned pro or enthusiastic beginner — finds opportunities they’re looking for.

As Day 7 dawns, you savor your last breakfast at the lodge, knowing that the adventure isn't quite over. The morning is spent fly fishing in the serene Laguna Larga, just steps from the lodge. The calm waters mirror the sky, providing a perfect backdrop for your final casts. After a delicious lunch, you bid farewell to Le Fario Lodge and head back to the airport in Esquel, carrying with you memories and stories to last a lifetime.
