Private trip guided by Florida Keys Fun Fishing

Florida Keys Fun Fishing 20-29 years of experience

About

Whether you’re an avid angler or new to fly fishing, we have something for everyone at Florida Keys Fun Fishing. There is no better place in the world to scratch that fly fishing itch than beautiful Islamorada Florida. Our fly fishing trips give anglers an opportunity to fish for a variety of game fish in crystal clear water.

Fly fishing is an ever-growing sport worldwide and has become extremely popular in the saltwater arena over the last 10 years. There are many differences that distinguish saltwater fly fishing from freshwater fly fishing. There is no drifting, no strike indicators, no mending, and most important, no easy fish to catch for just showing up. Anglers must be able to use tackle between 8 and 12 weight, cast great distances(30 to 80 feet), be very quick and accurate inside of 50 feet, able to cast in the wind (and yes, when you are here the wind will be here too) and do all this while standing on a small platform the size of a bed pillow. Sound impossible? Not at all, just business as usual in the Florida Keys on one of our “traditional flats skiff” fly charters.

Regardless of whether you’re fishing for giant tarpon at sunrise or stalking bonefish in less than a foot of water, anything can happen during a fly-fishing expedition in Islamorada. All you need to bring is your “A” game and a nod from the fish gods and you’re set.

New to fly fishing? At Florida Keys Fun Fishing, all of our guides fly fish. We live it, love it, and can teach it. Smiles, patience, and all top quality fly gear and flies included. There is a reason why it is the ultimate rush in fishing!

As local Islamorada fishing is constantly changing and evolving, we now offer bay boat fly fishing trips! These boats are more stable than the technical poling skiff and allow for a more general fly fishing trip for backcountry species. If you’re new to fly fishing this can be a great opportunity to start with a no pressure trip to get the feel for saltwater gear and tug on a few fish! You can also fish two people at a time and bring as many as four on the boat.

When on a fly fishing expedition with Florida Keys Fun Fishing, you can expect to have a great day on the water with some of Islamorada’s most skilled captains. You’ll have the opportunity to stalk a number of game fish while using the finest fly fishing equipment in the industry. If you’re new to fly fishing and want to give it a try, we’re here to help as well. We welcome the opportunity to teach you the intricacies of saltwater fly fishing!

Islamorada, Florida20-29 years of experience

Florida Keys Fun Fishing is owned and operated by Capt. Mark Johnson and his wife, Kara, and located right in the heart of Islamorada, the centerpiece of Florida Keys Fishing. Capt. Mark spent much of his childhood right here in Islamorada as a destination for his family. Oddly enough, all through the 70′s, his family stayed at the original La Siesta Resort and Marina, located at Mile Marker 80.5 ocean side, in Islamorada. “My parents loved to go boating, fishing, and snorkeling and they created endless family fun in the Florida Keys for their kids. My younger brother and I spent many a day and night as kids fishing, snorkeling and flat out exploring islands in the Florida Bay and Everglades and that created a passion that still drives me today 35 yrs later.”
