Private trip guided by Kyle

Kyle Jordan 6-9 years of experience

About

A typical half-day on the water with Kyle starts with him offering any necessary instruction prior to launching the boat (casting, fly selection, reviewing fishing methods, fishing report, etc.) followed by 4-5 hours of floating in his 13-ft inflatable raft down Texas Hill Country Rivers. Kyle is a fantastic casting instructor and works with clients to refine their techniques and mechanics. He is accommodating of all angler abilities from first-timers to seasoned anglers looking to target new species on the fly. Floating the Texas Hill Country rivers offers abundant opportunities to find fish and often requires multiple different techniques as conditions and fish behaviors change throughout the year. Kyle encourages clients to set their own pace and encourages his clients to take breaks to enjoy the beautiful and unique hill country scenery. Kyle’s trips are all catch-and-release to help preserve the precious resources that the Texas Hill Country Rivers hold.

Kyle keeps an eye on weather conditions, river flows, fishing reports, and communicates with his clients to select the optimal river for each guided trip. Each river has its optimal season and conditions, but between the four rivers above, Kyle guarantees excellent year-round fly fishing opportunities. The Texas Hill Country offers a unique and diverse range of target species including Rainbow Trout, Guadalupe Bass, Largemouth Bass, White Bass, Hybrid Bass, Striped Bass, and a wide variety of Panfish. Kyle has taken a growing interest in targeting additional “by-catch” species we see in the Hill country, all of which present very exciting angling opportunities. These include carp, gar, freshwater drum, and even catfish…all on the fly!

River Options Include:

The Lower Colorado River (just outside of Austin, TX)

The San Marcos River (near Martindale, TX)

Kyle will advise which river is fishing best based off current conditions, but ultimately it's your decision as the angler.

Guided by Kyle Jordan

Austin, Texas6-9 years of experience

Kyle was born and raised in Eagle Colorado and began his fly fishing career at the ripe age of 14. He’d sneak out and fish the banks of the Eagle River every chance he got. At the age of 18, he started guiding wade trips for Vail Valley Anglers, and picked up shifts in the shop to soak up information from senior guides. After completing his rowing certification, he bought a raft and started guiding float trips on the Eagle River and Colorado River. He trailered his raft, packed all of his belongings and moved to Austin, TX in April of 2021 to explore new species and waterways. He landed a job with Sportsman’s Finest, the best specialty outdoor retailer in the Hill Country, built a network of passionate like-minded anglers and began exploring the Texas Hill Country Rivers. Kyle prides himself on providing excellent customer service, and tailors each trip specifically to the angler and their desires.
