The Bow River, flowing through and downstream of Calgary, Alberta, is renowned as one of the finest trophy trout rivers in Western North America. This iconic fishery supports a thriving, all-wild population of Rainbow and Brown Trout, with many fish averaging around 19 inches in length. Its cold, clear water and rich aquatic insect life create ideal conditions for trout growth and year-round angling. The Bow offers a mix of technical dry fly fishing, productive nymphing, and exciting streamer action, attracting fly fishers from around the globe in pursuit of its large, hard-fighting trout.
Exact meeting location will be discussed after booking.

I’m Nolan, originally from a small town in southern Alberta, with a lifelong passion for sports, travel, and the outdoors. I got my start in fly fishing at age 10 on a guided trip in Fernie, BC with my dad and the legendary Dave Brown.
I eventually moved to Fernie later in life, where I fully embraced the mountain lifestyle - skiing all winter and fishing every chance I got. These days, I live in Calgary with my wife and enjoy a career in the oil and gas industry. When I’m not working, you’ll find me learning the ins and outs of the Bow River or heading south to Belize to chase tarpon on the fly.
