Always great floats with Alex and EJ. No matter skill level these guides make sure everyone has an enjoyable float and catches fish. I have fished with each of them several times and each experience seems better than the one before. I highly recommend them for guided trips.

May 31 float on the Smith River (Bassett, VA) with fishing guide Rhen Bumgardner of Raleigh Flyfishing Guide Service: Floated from the Philpott Dam discharge downstream 6+ miles to the boat launch river access. Put-in late morning and took-out in mid evening. Wow, total time fishing on the water was 8.5 hrs. Rhen put us on brown and rainbow trout all day long, we caught plenty. Great instruction and many helpful hints. Definitely recommend!

Our guide, Justin, was outstanding. My son is relatively new to fly fishing and Justin could not have done a better job instructing him on technique. Justin was incredibly patient and helpful. It was the perfect day of fishing on the Smith River. I highly recommend them to anyone.

Booked this for my husbands birthday. Went out with EJ and he can not stop talking about it! This is the perfect trip for someone who loves fishing and wants to try out fly fishing. The gear is top notch and my husband, his friend, and the guide all had a blast together. He's very much looking forward to coming back!

We had a great day on the Smith River (half day float) with Rhen. He taught my ~15 yo son to fly fish and I went along for the ride. My son caught 8+ trout! Rhen was knowledgeable, patient, and effective at coaching my kid on his form and strategy. He got us to some hard-to-reach spots via boat. Communication ahead of the trip was great. Rhen took good care of us and we had a ton of fun.

The river was stunning. We caught rainbows and browns on nymphs, streamers and dries. The dry fly fishing was to rising fish. C J is a great guide, putting me on fish throughout the day, coaching my casting, and improving my hook ups.
