The day starts with a quick boat ride out in Capt. Casey’s 32’ Seavee center console. His boat slip is conveniently located close to some of his favorite fishing spots. Casey has been fishing the Keys for 7 years, so he’s super in-tune with the local fishery and fish behaviors. He’s a laid back dude and holds great conversation. Casey is great with first-timers and welcomes you to bring your family along for the trip. His boat is equipped with outriggers and has a livewell to keep your bait fresh. There’s also an icebox to keep your catch fresh until you return to the dock. He’ll clean all your fish at the end of the trip…just make sure you tip him well. In the summer, the best option is trolling offshore in search of Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, and the occasional shot at Blue Marlin. In the wintertime, you spend most of your day on the edge of the reef, live bait fishing with either kites or slow trolling. This time of year, your main target is Sailfish, big Blackfin Tuna, King Mackerel, Wahoo, Yellowtail Snapper, and Grouper. Target species include: Blue Marlin, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Black Grouper, Sailfish, Yellowtail Snapper, Jack, and Cobia. Methods include bottom fishing, deep sea fishing, trolling, spinning, and kite fishing using both light and heavy tackle depending on conditions and time of year. Captain Casey takes care of all the fishing gear needed for the trip. This includes rods, reels, tackle, live bait, and lures. He’ll also provide licenses and clean your catch, so there’s nothing you should bring except for food and drinks.
