About

I was born and raised in the country, just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia. At a very young age I developed a passion for the outdoors, particularly in the arts of fly fishing. In high school I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout; and accomplished this, in part, by creating an annual fly fishing camp for folks with various physical and mental disabilities. The camp is still being run over 17 years later. I’ve always been very driven, with a knack for problem solving. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Material Science and Engineering. An engineering job moved me South Carolina, where I had my first experience with tailing redfish. Shortly thereafter, I bought myself my first flats boat and left my engineering career to pursue my passion for fly fishing. I’ve worked as a professional guide and charter captain for past five years, running up to 220 charters a year. Over the past decade, I have worked hard, putting in countless hours to unlock some of the secrets the low country’s fisheries have to offer. I absolutely love what I do; and try to wake up each day with a relentless pursuit get better and learn more.

Capt Caleb is a fantastic guide and great person to spend a day on the water with! Caleb put us on fish, helped us with our casting, and we successfully caught a few red fish! We left wanting more and we look forward to another trip with Caleb!

I’ve chartered with Capt. Caleb over the years when I visit Charleston. The first year we ran I book 3 days during my week long stay. Happy to say I was able to come back to our rental on IOP with PLENTY of fish! Fast forward a year later Caleb reached out to me about fish he located in the area that were massive! We put a 43in red in the boat I managed to haul in with a 10wt fly rod! A memory of a life time.. Capt. Caleb is text book definition a salty dog, spending more time on the water than on land to give his clients a story to take home with them. Thank you Capt. Caleb for your hard work, we’ll see you soon!

When you book a guide trip you never know what you’re going to get, especially if you’ve never met the individual before. With that said, you might have some expectations. I met Caleb for the first time at the ramp and everything was ready to go in the boat. He took us to the first spot and we started seeing fish within a few minutes. Then we hit a few spots after that. All in all a great trip in most people’s eyes. I have no problem recommending him to friends and family since everyone I’ve recommended to him loves that trips they’ve taken. There are a few qualities that separate Caleb from others I’ve fished with. First, he wants to get to know you versus just taking you out since you paid him. Second, he knows the area. Some guides have a few spots, but he knows the area. There is a big difference from understanding why the fish are there versus just getting lucky with a spot. Lastly, he works his butt off. Some guides take it easy, pole with the wind, us the TM too much, stick with the same fly or lure, etc. Caleb does whatever is necessary to give you shots throughout the day. If you want a guide that is personable and will work with you, go with him!

Fished with Captain Caleb for two days and had an absolute blast. I was able to talk with Captain Caleb ahead of the trip and put together a game plan that he executed perfectly. We spent day one fishing the jetties and a low tide area, we absolutely crushed redfish and hit a couple other species (shark, sea bass, blue fish, etc.) catching probably ~25 redfish and ~40 fish in total. Day two was reserved specifically for hunting tarpon, he knew where they would be and put us on them (had several around the boat within casting distance). Unfortunately the tarpon didn't fully cooperate...but we knew that was a likelihood going in. We were still able to catch more redfish and shark on day two as happy byproduct of our efforts. My dad and I will be making an annual trip to Charleston to fish with Captain Caleb from here on out. 10/10 would recommend to anyone that's looking to fish Charleston's inshore and nearshore waterways.

Captain Caleb has put me on fish several times and provided an environment that made for fun days even when the weather or fish didn’t want to willingly contribute. His knowledge of the fishery around Charleston proved to be first rate. When things got tough we moved and the adjustments paid dividends. We have caught reds, trout, flounder and even sharks. Would be happy to recommend Caleb to any one looking to experience the low country fishery!

Capt Caleb Andrews is an amazing guide and elevated my fly fishing experience. This was my first salt experience on the fly. Caleb quickly assessed my abilities (given the conditions), added a few pointers, and then he put me in perfect range of fish many times. Caleb has great communication, Greta intuition, prepared and safe. Caleb is obviously obsessed with stalking big fish and his passion is contagious! I landed my first red with him and the entire day was a blast! Book it! You are guaranteed the best shots possible for the day!! Thanks for the amazing day, can’t wait to get back soon!
