After the Striped Bass have concluded their spawn in the upper river, they begin to make their way back down the river and out to the sound. These fish take their time moving back downriver, feeding heavily on baitfish in the river to replenish the energy they expended during their spawn. This is one of the most overlooked times of the year to chase Striped Bass, additionally, this is an excellent time to target trophy Largemouth Bass. We target these fish out of a 20' skiff using fly and light tackle.
May 10th - June 15th

I am an Eastern North Carolina fishing guide specializing in fly and light tackle fishing on the region’s coastal river systems. I have spent my entire career in the fishing industry with the goal of sharing my passion for these incredible freshwater resources. The Tar and Roanoke Rivers provide us with hundreds of miles of scenic and productive fishing grounds for a variety of resident and migratory species. Winter and Spring runs of Striped Bass draw anglers from all over the world to experience one of the most prolific spawning migrations in the world. The American and Hickory Shad migrations on these rivers also provide a very unique angling experience for fly and light tackle anglers in the spring. Our resident warm-water fishery is an often overlooked resource that gives anglers an opportunity to target trophy Largemouth Bass and other warm-water species throughout the year.
I strive to provide my clients with a safe, fun, and educational experience on the water. I pride myself on not only helping my clients catch fish, but helping them understand why they are catching fish. I want all my clients to leave a trip with a more complete understanding of fishing.
Come experience wild & scenic fishing on North Carolina’s coastal river systems.
