About

Captain Patrick Huban has always found his way to the water. From his early days surfing and lifeguarding on the beaches of Cape Cod to studying fish behavior in the smallest streams and largest tidal flats, the water has always been home.

Patrick’s outdoor pursuits ultimately led him to fly fishing where he quickly discovered a passion for learning how environmental factors impact fish behaviors. His approach to fly fishing is to appreciate the time spent on the water and to fish with a focus on sustainability and respect for both the fish and for their habitat.

As a guide, Patrick enjoys sharing his experience with others, from seasoned flyfishers to total newcomers. His method of guiding is to demystify fly fishing and distill it to its simplest elements: understanding fish and their environment and using this centuries old technique to interact with nature in it’s purest form.

Patrick is an expert angler, guide and instructor with exceptional coaching skills and a patient, fun and effective style. After 25 years of freshwater flyfishing for trout, I worked with Patrick extensively to prepare for a saltwater bucket list trip to Cuba targeting Tarpon, Permit and Bonefish. From perfecting the double haul casting technique to general knowledge on how to prepare, what to expect and how to get the most out of the experience, his counsel was integral to what was an incredible trip. Highlights were my first Tarpon ever landed on the fly (7 total), a trophy size bonefish (28 inches, 12+ lbs) and numerous shots at the elusive Permit. Additional hook-ups with Jack, Snapper and Barracuda rounded out the trip. It simply wouldn't have been as fun or productive without his expert guidance. Highly, highly recommended and look forward to fishing with him this spring locally.

Great day on the water with Captain Patrick. He got us on the bass and blues quickly and kept us on them all day. Very clean boat and gear. Would highly recommend him.

Great day out on the water; early fall run action but still landed more than half a dozen good fish. Pat is super nice and knowledgeable about the area.

Second annual trip with Pat fishing for stripers off of Cape Cod. Pat guided my partner and I on a kayak/walk and wade trip while visiting the Cape this summer. Pat had us on the fish quickly first thing in the morning with both my partner and I landing multiple fish. As the sun rose, Pat strategically moved us throughout the area, keeping the action going all day. Got to fish with Orvis Helios rods which was an added unexpected bonus. Highly recommend booking a trip with Pat as he is knowledgeable, accommodating, and fun to fish with! Thanks again for another great trip Pat, we'll see you next year!
