Had a great time with Joe! We were able to get my young GSP out on some grouse and woodcock for her very first season. Joe is very knowledgable about the birds, and the environment that they live in. I highly recommend his guided bird hunt and I will definitely be going back next year. Lunch was a plus also after all the walking we did! FYI, be ready to be quick on the trigger!!!

This was my second year with covert Creek and definitely not my last I had the pleasure of hunting with Joe and his awesome dog Rhett , both his dogs Rhett and cash are some of the best dogs I ever hunted over ! Joe really knows his stuff and is a pleasure to hunt with . I recommend covert Creek to everyone already looking forward to next year's hunts !

Fantastic experience all around, from booking to the actual outing. I booked a morning flyfishing session with Covert during a family vacation to the Catskills. Joe was flexible on the timing leading up to booking as we watched weather and currents. Joe came prepared and ready and arrived early at the agreed meeting location - we fished up and down the river nearby (the Esopus). Would 100% book with Covert again and I’m excited to bring a few friends out next time to fish and also arrange a bird hunt.

My son and I had a great day on the water with Joe. Scheduling, coordination, and communication were easy. Joe was very accomodating with dates and times to fish. This was our first time fly fishing and Joe gave us great lesson and practice session before hitting the river. When we he showed us everything that he was looking for in our spots to give us the best opportunity to catch fish. My son and I both caught our first fish on fly rods and had a great day. Joe was extremely professional and personable. I will defnitely fish with Joe again and enjoy learning more about fly fishing.

My partner and I hunted for three days with Joe in early December 2023. What a fantastic experience. Joe is one of, if not the best guide I have hunted with in my 5 decades of hunting. His habitat expertise, woods savvy, and extensive scouting to find covers large and small mean that you will see birds. We had a terrific time and can't wait to do it again. I share Joe's passion for the traditions of Northeast Grouse hunting and we had wonderful conversations about guns, dogs, and the great sporting writers of old. Can't say enough good things about the experience, other than just do it and you will know.

My first-time fishing in the Catskills was memorable! My guide was Joe Cauvel who worked hard under challenging conditions but was able to put me on trout after heavy rains. He was a great instructor for me because he was easy going, patient and experienced in tight line nymphing. I learned a lot about breaking down the sections of water currents into seams and using a variety of tactics to minimize drag. I would recommend Joe if you’re interested in expanding your knowledge on how to locate lurking trout under a variety of conditions.

Amazing time with Joe! He brought everything we need and met us at our hotel's stream. We practiced for the first 45 minutes on a lawn and he really explained everything clearly and was so patient with questions. Then we headed into the stream where Joe found multiple fishing spots and taught us even more. All in all, we spent 4 hours with Joe and had the best time! Highly recommend!!

Joe was an excellent instructor and guide. If you are a beginner fly fisher - joe walks you through the whole experience and teaches you before you hit the water. He made us feel comfortable and excited for the trip. Joe found all the good spots in the water and set us up. We learned a lot and had a great time !!
