My first-time fishing in the Catskills was memorable! My guide was Joe Cauvel who worked hard under challenging conditions but was able to put me on trout after heavy rains. He was a great instructor for me because he was easy going, patient and experienced in tight line nymphing. I learned a lot about breaking down the sections of water currents into seams and using a variety of tactics to minimize drag. I would recommend Joe if you’re interested in expanding your knowledge on how to locate lurking trout under a variety of conditions.

Amazing time with Joe! He brought everything we need and met us at our hotel's stream. We practiced for the first 45 minutes on a lawn and he really explained everything clearly and was so patient with questions. Then we headed into the stream where Joe found multiple fishing spots and taught us even more. All in all, we spent 4 hours with Joe and had the best time! Highly recommend!!

Joe was an excellent instructor and guide. If you are a beginner fly fisher - joe walks you through the whole experience and teaches you before you hit the water. He made us feel comfortable and excited for the trip. Joe found all the good spots in the water and set us up. We learned a lot and had a great time !! We learned a lot about the local fly fishing scene. Highly recommend Joe and his fly fishing trip!

Joe is an awesome fishing guide. Went out to the Willowemoc after a bunch of rain the day before, water was really high. But Joe got me on to fish, including some really quality wild browns. In addition to catching fish Joe gave me a lot of good information for me to be successful on my own in the Catskill rivers.
