At Dave Brown Outfitters, our “collection” of guides spans 2 countries, 2 U.S. states and 3 Canadian provinces.
Although the territory we cover is vast and ranges from the SW desert of Arizona, the Montana Front Range, the Canadian Rockies, and the Northern Great Plains, all our guides share a common goal:
To look after the best interests of our clients.
They are all friendly, knowledgeable hardworking individuals that we a proud to work with. Bottom line, whether your passion is Fly-Fishing or Wingshooting, the Guides of Orvis-endorsed Dave Brown Outfitters gets it done in many awesome locations. That’s not a boast. It’s a fact.
When you offer clients unsurpassed angling on dozens of rivers and streams in six major watersheds across one U.S. state and two Canadian provinces along with great Wingshooting opportunities in 2 US states and one Canadian province, you’d better darn well be able to back it up.
We can and we do – daily, all season long, trip after trip and client after client.
We are all fly-tying, sunglass-wearing, drift boat-rowing, fly-fishing professionals.
Collectively we’ve fished or guided in dozens of countries on five continents, yet each summer we return to share that experience and breadth of knowledge with you. Our common goal is to provide you, the customer, with a Western Canadian fly fishing experience that you’ll talk about for years to come.
We’re willing to bet that we have the highest retention rate of clients in the region, too, the best endorsement of all. Our corporate endorsements are numerous and varied: DBO is the guide service of choice in Alberta and B.C. for such prestigious travel companies as Cabela’s, Frontiers,Best Wingshooting and Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures.
We’re also the only full-time guide service of its kind in Western Canada. For us, this isn’t a “second direction” of another business used to supplement income. Outfitting is all we do and we do it year-round. No one knows the water like we do, and no one can offer you the same level of customer service, expertise and professionalism.

VerifiedThe only reason I am giving this review as many as 3 stars is because our guide was so terrific, as were his dogs. Our guide Justin is fantastic and if the bird population finally comes back I would definitely want to ask for him again as our guide. It certainly wasn’t for lack of trying that we only saw one small covey of Quail in two days of hunting. Zero birds the second day. He took us to the best possible quail habitat you can imagine, but just no birds. When Dave Brown outfitters told us it was a little slow, we didn’t expect it to mean virtually nonexistent. The quail population is so distressed I don’t understand why Dave Brown outfitters should even be booking hunts in this region. They should be trying to help the quail population recover, not booking hunts in a region with an already greatly depleted quail population. All in all we had a good time thanks to Justin. We saw beautiful country, the weather was good and watching his dogs work was a true joy. Sincerely, Don

VerifiedHighly recommend this trip! As newbies to fly fishing we really appreciated and learnt loads from Angie's experience. The arrangements and set up was very smooth from start to finish and Angie went above and beyond our expectations.

VerifiedMy wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our float on the Bow. My wife did not fish but enjoyed the scenery and engaging conversation with Quinn, our guide. It was a bit windy which quickly called attention to my modest casting ability. Quinn was very patient, offering pointers to cope with the sporadic gales and some welcomed line mending suggestions. Although I did not catch a lot of fish, I did manage a very nice brown, rainbow, and white fish along with a smattering of smaller fish, long distance releases, and snail like responses to cunning takes. It was a full day of fishing, nice boat, scrumptious lunch, and very good comradery.
